First couple of weeks of school

Two weeks have flown by. Girls are all settling into the new routines. While there are still some issues to be dealt with, things are going as smoothly as possible in both morning and evenings.
First week of school was pretty easy for them. No homework, basic review of work at school. Field trip to the Russell fair on day 4 of school. It's pretty easy if you ask me.
Second week was the start of the hard stuff.. Homework started, spelling words started, and all that fun stuff. Seems like Kat's teacher is very much on the light homework side of things.. Other than her spelling words, she has two reading assignments for the week (In English, she has to read her favourite book to an adult, and in French she has to read a one page poem). But the spelling words have gone up considerably. She has 10 English words, and 8 French words. So it's going to take a few weeks to get use to that level of studying. Ellie, it's like deja vu for us. Same stuff that Kat had last year. So three spelling words in English, a word scramble thing (given 5 letters, and with clues she has to make various words), plus in French she has to practice the names and sounds of the letters.

We also started swimming last week, so we have been to two lessons. Both are really enjoying it, but in reality, it looks like Ellie coud have gone up a few levels because she is by far the oldest in her class - but i guess that is the issue with her age at the moment. She is about 4 months too young to start on the next age group (The one that Kat is in).. So we had to put her in the preschool class, but as we have told her, this class is to learn all the basics.. Chances are, depending on how both of them do, they could be in the same class next January. We will get Ellie assessed closer to the date when you sign up, and figure it out. But for now, she will learn what is taught to her, she will have fun in the water every week, and it will all be good. And Kat is doing really good. She has this whole mentality that any one other than her parents is a good teacher, so anything the teacher asks her to do, she does willingly. So it's a good thing.. She is doing stuff that we have been trying to get her to do for years, and it took the teacher all of 15 minutes of knowing Kat to get her to do it. LOL

And not to leave her out, but Dany is doing good. Adjusting well to the solo time with mommy. There are some little issues - the whole queen of the house for 8 hours and wants tocontinue to rule the house after her sisters get home - that we need to figure out, but other wise, she is doing good.
