No Volume Control

First off.. i don't know what about the picture of Inka's ear violated Photobuckets term of use.. maybe with the background (of the open closet) they thought it was a picture of something else.. LOL Who knows..

So we took a very upset Inka to the vet yesterday afternoon, and yup, the diagnosis was exactly what i thought. And the procedure was pretty much what i thought as well - draining the fluid in the ear.
She weighs in at 6kgs.. which is actually less than what i thought. The vet tech got a laugh out of us trying to get her out of the carrier.. It literally took two of us to get her out. I guess she wasn't impressed.
The Vet is very nice. Well the whole office is very nice actually.

The plan was that Inka would stay over night at the office.. She would be put under in the morning, have the procedure done - basically just a needle put into the ear, drained.. and then a shot of steriods into the ear.. Then she would stay there to recover from the procedure, and come home tonight. After looking at her schedule, the vet and the tech decided that they would do the procedure last night right after her last appt. We got a call just after we finished supper saying that not only did the procedure go perfectly, but Inka just sat there and did nothing, so she didn't have to be put under so we could go pick her up tonight. :) (another bonus is it knocked 85$ off the bill). She had a treatment for her earmites as well and they sent home a treatment for Azzie.

Her ear is still floppy, but it's not swollen up like a balloon. Not sure what the recovery will be like. But luckily for Inka is she doesn't have to wear a cone. We take her back on Monday morning for a check up.
Unfortunately she gave only 40% odds of this working.. And then the next step would be surgery. But unfortunately surgery just isn't an option. The quote would be close to a thousand dollars for it. So hopefully Inka is lucky and falls into the 40 percent. If not, we will have to just deal with any infections that happen in the ear, and hope nothing serious happens.

So she is home, and back to her "normal" self. Hiding in the basement or under beds, coming out to eat, or slink from upstairs to the basement or the other way. Hopefully she feels up to coming out tonight after the girls go to bed so i can check out her ear.

The girls did pretty good with the whole thing. Kat was upset at the beginning worried about her, but i think she was more worried about going to a doctor that not only treats cats but dogs too. They were worried about the kitty, and were happy when she came home. But they want to find her to make sure she is okay, and that's really the last thing that Inka needs right now. So things have to go back to normal for their relationship - the girls can't go and find her, and Inka will dart when she sees the girls.
