No Volume Control

At the hotel after a long day. We are now in Bathurst, NB. A new province for the girls and myself.

This morning, after a quick breakfast at the hotel, we headed to the exploration center in Riviere du loup. After Simon (our Squirrely GPS) got us a little lost and we had to travel around an one-way loop, we found it on the 2nd attempt. It was located in a cute house - not what you would expect. The view is fantastic. We got our own tour guide who definitely got her workout for the day translating into English. We got to touch a star fish and urchin - the star fish apparently though the girls were tasty because he started to expel its stomach to eat them. There were also microscopes to look at shells and rocks, various bones / teeth from sea animals, seal skin, and other neat stuff. There was also telescopes outside to look out at the St. Laurence, but there wasn't much to see because of the amount of fog. We could barely see the ferry boat around the bend.

Hopped back into the car and headed out. Today was our experiment day - both Ellie and myself went without gravol for our motion sickness. Our first stop was in Rimouski to get Tims - what's a drive without a Timmy's. ;)

We argued with Simon again because he wanted us to take the center way down to Bathurst, but we wanted to take the "long" way around (we wanted to reach the coast quicker). But with a few tweaks, we convinced him that this was the better way to go.

Our next stop was an emergency stop in Cambellton, NB (the first town after crossing the border) for a pee break. It was a quick stop for everyone.

By now, we could see the ocean. And we wanted nothing more than to stop and see it. Our plan was to stop in Dalhousie because of a beach there, but we couldn't find it, so instead we stopped just past the Indian reserve. Back at the ocean. Boy did it feel good. The girls immediately started looking for treasures. Kat and Ellie generally looking for shells, and Dany gathering all the rocks. We found a couple of unique teasures because of the low tide which included an empty crab shell (we actually found several of those but we kept the best looking one), an empty but still attach clam shell.

After a fun hunt, we started the last leg to the hotel. We followed the coast on the Acadian Trail. It's always amazing seeing all the little villages along the coast.

And now, we are at the hotel after having a late supper, letting the girls have solo relaxing baths. The hotel is definitely nicer than the last one, with everyone enjoying the fluffy pillows.

Tomorrow we follow more of the coast, and explore the Acadian region.
